Youth Precinct Upgrade Project

Since the Youth Precinct opened in 2016, the sun, salt, sand and wind have taken their toll on the equipment and nearly half has been removed with more equipment soon to reach its end of life.

Instead of replacing the equipment in the space, in early 2024 the City began working with the community to develop a plan to upgrade the Youth Precinct - youth are defined as young people aged 12-25 years.

What did you come up with?
With the assistance of local high school students, the Youth Precinct Concept Masterplan was developed and we asked the community what they thought about the design. We received great feedback and reworked the plan to incorporate suggestions - ensuring the precinct will be an inclusive space with facilities and amenities for young people.

In June 2025,  the City sought feedback on the Updated Youth Precinct Masterplan from project stakeholders and the broader community. Read what they said in the engagement report here

In July 2025, at the Ordinary Meeting of Council, the Updated Masterplan was endorsed by Council. The City has allocated $3.8 million in the 2025/26 Budget to upgrade the Youth Precinct.

On September 2025 feedback was sought on the planned skatepark at a Community Drop-In Session.View the designs The majority of the feedback received during the session supported the concept designs. Following this final round of consultation, the feedback received was used to inform the final detailed design of the precinct presented below.
