TC "YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTRE UPGRADE OF" \f C \l "1" YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTRE UPGRADE OF Sonia Roe asked if Council had plans to upgrade the Youth Centre on Maitland Road. The President informed Sonia that the premises did not belong to Council and that they are they are leased from CDEP. The President asked if Sonia had any suggestions and she proposed that they make the Centre more noticeable. The Chief Executive Officer advised that CDEP is currently planning to expand the Centre and Council has recently placed a pool table in the Centre. The Chief Executive Officer also advised that with the assistance of CDEP the opening hours of the Centre would be increased.  TC "MULLEWA SWIMMING POOL UPGRADE OF" \f C \l "1" MULLEWA SWIMMING POOL UPGRADE OF Tristan Steele asked if Council was going to upgrade the pool. The Chief Executive Officer advised that Council intended to upgrade the pool at the close of the 2001/2002 season. The upgrade included the relining of the three pools, the construction of graduating steps into the pool as well as the installation of a hoist. Currently Willoughby Constructions is installing disabled toilets as well as a pram ramp into the concourse. The entire upgrade will cost approximately $120,000.00.  TC "LOT 114/20 BURGES STREET LAND USE" \f C \l "1" LOT 114/20 BURGES STREET LAND USE Sonia Roe asked if Council intended to do anything with the now vacant land at Lot 114/20 Burges Street. The President advised that the land was privately owned and to date the proprietor has not submitted any plans for the block. The Chief Executive Officer was directed to obtain quotes. 1:11pm: Councillor N Johnstone left the meeting 1:12pm: Councillor N Johnstone returned to the meeting  TC "LOT 74 JOSE STREET MULLEWA UNFIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION" \f C \l "1" LOT 74 JOSE STREET MULLEWA UNFIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION The Chief Executive Officer presented and read correspondence from Mrs R Wright in reply to Councils letter in which she advises that quotes are currently being sought. The Chief Executive Officer also advised that the building had been secured. Mrs Wright also informed Council that she is in dispute with Kingstream and Roy Weston Real Estate as to who is responsible for repairs. She requested an extension of two months to carry out Councils demands. Councillor Thurkle suggested that her problems with Kingstream are irrelevant to Councils demands. The Chief Executive Officer advised that he is seeking a legal opinion on possible further action. Mr Dave Hadden, Councils Manager Health/Building, advised that Council can take action under the Local Government Act or the Health Act, and the legal advisor will recommend the best avenue. He also advised that if Council requires immediate action, then it would need to place an order on the premises. However, if Council does not wish to see the building demolished then the owner should be granted the request for more time. Councillor Johnstone asked Mr Hadden what the health issues were pertaining to the building. Mr Hadden advised that the premises in its present state is not fit for human habitation. Mr Roden advised that the work would be completed as soon as the Crew returns from annual leave in January 2002. He informed Council that the road will bind but will not be dust proof, and the required work can be carried out at minimum cost. Fegan Road Councillor Thomas advised that Fegan Road was very badly corrugated. Mr Roden advised that Fegan Road had been graded the week previously. Traffic Counters Councillor L Newman asked why the traffic counters were in the Tardun district now when the school had closed for the year. The Chief Executive Officer advised that they are there because it is the peak harvest usage time of the year as determined by the Regional Road Group in accordance with their parameters and criteria. Councillor Newman advised that school traffic would not be included in the data collected. Maintenance Grader Mr Roden advised that the maintenance grader would be working on 7, 8, and 9 January 2002. If any Councillor knows of any required work prior to these dates, please notify the office. The main arterial roads will also be graded during this period.
