CARRIED 9/0 Reason for variation from Committee Recommendation: The Council believes that by exercising its discretion to increase the height of the fence may create a visually unappealing frontage to the Church. CARRIED 9/0  TC "COMMONWEALTH FUNDING MEDICAL FACILITIES" \f C \l "1" COMMONWEALTH FUNDING MEDICAL FACILITIES  The Chief Executive Officer tabled a copy of a Report as prepared by him to the Federal Department of Health & Aged Care. Commonwealth funding is being sought for the improvement of medical facilities, recurrent expenditure, rental subsidy, building upgrades and the provision of a vehicle. Cases presented include converting the current Doctors Surgery into an Allied Health Building or building a new medical facility in Thomas Street. The current premises require an additional consulting room to accommodate visiting Specialists, and as the building accommodates HACC, there is no room for expansion. HACC and the Doctors Surgery are to remain together.  TC "GENERAL BUSINESS:" \f C \l "1" GENERAL BUSINESS:  TC "COUNCILLOR F W NEWMAN APOLOGIES" \f C \l "1" COUNCILLOR F W NEWMAN APOLOGIES Councillor F W Newman advised Council that he will be unable to attend the Ordinary Meeting of Council on November 15, 2000.  TC "BROADACRE SPRAY TRIAL REQUEST OF" \f C \l "1" BROADACRE SPRAY TRIAL REQUEST OF Councillor F W Newman advised that he had received a phone call from a Company requesting to trial a spray on his property. He refused and voiced concern about the Company approaching other property owners within the Shire. He enquired regarding Councils position on the matter and any rights of action. Council noted Councillor Newmans concerns and will seek information from Councillor Doherty who is currently investigating the aspect of Genetic Modification and the sprays used.  TC "SOLAHART REPAIRS 40 CARSON STREET" \f C \l "1" SOLAHART REPAIRS 40 CARSON STREET Councillor Jenkin requested that repairs be made to the Solahart Hot Water System at 40 Carson Street as soon as possible. Councillor Jenkin was advised that a plumber had been requested on a number of occasions. SALINITY BORES MONITORING OF Councillor L Newman advised that the salinity bores need to be monitored monthly in order to build a history profile. Council is currently awaiting the results of a pump test in Stock Street and the information collated thus far from monitoring the bores. Councillor Newman suggested that some of the water be pumped out to reduce the water table. Council is currently awaiting information and recommendations. Initial results suggest that the water from the bore situated at the Mullewa Bowling Club is of good quality.  TC "WATER TANKER MW2456" \f C \l "1" WATER TANKER MW2456  Councillor Wainwright advised that the Water Tanker is still bouncing when empty and that the driver appears unaware of it happening. The Chief Executive Officer was instructed to have the Plant Mechanic again check this unit. Councillor Messina and the Chief Executive Officer were absent from the meeting from 4:43pm to 4:45pm Mr Bob Roden, Works Supervisor, entered the meeting at 4:45pm.
